OA Export Expertise to Australia
Matthew Balaam & Martin Gilbert visited Melbourne in early April for an event organised by Aecom and NTC Architects on behalf of Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority. Oxford Architects were invited as part of a research project that the VHHSBA will use to inform the redevelopment of the Forensicare facility in Melbourne.
We had a couple of days getting to know the team and visiting some exciting and innovative mental health projects that have been developed recently with the VHHSBA.
On the Monday Oxford Architects presented a lecture giving an overview of the Broadmoor Hospital Redevelopment followed by a Q&A forum. This was followed by two days of stakeholder forums where Oxford Architects took a morning session to present on the detail of the Broadmoor design and an afternoon session to present on the process of briefing and design development.
All of the events were well attended by specialists with a variety of backgrounds. This led to thought provoking and wide ranging discussions with real engagement from a variety perspectives.
We are back in the UK now, tired but inspired by seeing some great work out there and collaborating with a lively and intelligent team of professionals in Melbourne.
