Somerset Cultural Centre in for Planning

Recently submitted for planning approval, the proposed new classrooms, multi-purpose hall and residential dormitories form part of the Phase 2 works at Knowle Hall, Bridgwater.

Knowle Hall is a residential educational facility for visiting students from Chinese schools, who wish to experience the history and culture of the UK. Following the completion of the Phase 1 refurbishment works in 2016, Phase 2 focuses on the delivery of the new build extension to the side and rear of Knowle Hall. This new accommodation will increase the number of students and staff able to learn and reside on site through the addition of four new classrooms, a multi-purpose hall with catering facilities, 28 residential dormitories and ancillary accommodation. The new building will be predominately clad in light grey zinc metal, supported by the use of Western Red Cedar vertical louvres and Blue Lias Limestone.

Works are due to start on site in 2020, with completion due in Summer 2021.
