High Specification Clean Environments
Oxford Architects were asked to design and build 2 no. ISO Class 8 Clean Rooms for GE Oil & Gas at Nailsea. These rooms are critical in the assembly and extended testing of their many and varying subsea components produced on site that serve the global Petrochemical Industry.
Component sizes worked on range from small to very large (10 tonnes). Through air lock chambers these components are attended to in sterile manufacturing conditions and integral heavy lifting devices allow a smooth transition of stock in and out of the facility to suit the production line call-off requirements.
A feature of the design is that all the mechanical plant is externally mounted at high level allowing insitu maintenance while the rooms are still fully functioning.
