New Station Quarter for Coventry
Coventry City Council realised that the environmental quality of the area around the iconic 1960s Grade II Listed station had severely deteriorated over the course of the last 30 years. Oxford Architects, in partnership with WSP, were engaged to develop a master plan for the regeneration of the area. The brief required the provision of a new 1000space multi-storey car park, a new bus interchange and a new station foot bridge. The scheme also had to address the new Friars Gate development taking place on land adjacent to the station. As part of the strategic overview, our team suggested an entirely new station building on the Warwick Rd to address the growing importance of this approach to the transport interchange.
