New School Library in Historic Context
In order to safeguard the future of the Dovecote building - unused and in desperate need of repair - the proposals sought to bring the building back into use as a positive asset for the school and helped create a memory garden courtyard for a former pupil.
The project comprised the refurbishment and repair of the Grade II listed Dovecote along with the addition of a sympathetic extension to provide a new library and study space for the main school. The new facility allows the re-use of the existing Library area within the main house.
Inserting a new lightweight mezzanine within the Dovecot provided extra space and created a naturally ventilated and lit teaching and reading space.
