Valley Bridge School

Oxford Architects’ were brought on as SEN specialists to advise the client on how to refurbish the vacant school into a thriving educational environment.

Spaghetti Bridge Ltd, a specialist provider in education for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), and high levels of anxiety, have collaborated with Oxford Architects’ to develop Valley Bridge School within a repurposed Victorian house.

The transformation preserves the historic character of the building while integrating modern, adaptable learning spaces that support the school’s specialist curriculum. The main three storey Victorian house has been carefully restored and updated to meet the needs of the new school along with a Mid-twentieth century music and theatre block, craft rooms and a sports hall. The ancillary buildings were refurbished to provide the school with additional facilities. The design ensures a balance between heritage and functionality, creating an inclusive environment that fosters both academic progress and personal development.
