Assisting Children's Special Needs
8 class bases and art and science rooms in a two storey block together with music room, class base extension, hydrotherapy pool, reception, staff room and sports hall.
Working around an existing school, extensions were added in 4 places combined with significant internal alterations to create a more integrated and intelligible complex. These spatial requirements led to a very complex phasing of the construction.
Coloured rendered walls were used to contrast with the dull grey of the existing concrete block school with colour being an important feature of the interior.
