The Tintometer Ltd is one of the leading companies in the field of water analysis offering innovative products for the analysis of water in swimming pools, drinking water, foul water, surface and ground water, untreated water and effluents, through to cooling water and boiler feed water.
Oxford Architects were appointed to design a new office, research and production facility to be delivered in two phases.
Phase 1 comprises of a 2,881sqm two storey building incorporating goods in/out, storage for chemicals, production laboratories including fume cupboard, assembly and repair departments, welfare facilities and canteen, building plant and services facilities, offices and meeting rooms. Externally parking is provided for 57 cars and a service yards accommodates articulated lorry and van deliveries.
Phase 2 adds a 1,223sqm three storey building incorporating a furnace area for the production of coloured glass, materials store, research & development department, and a production area and further office accommodation with associated welfare facilities.
New buildings on Solstice Park are required to conform with the park’s design guidelines. These guidelines encourage the use of grey metal cladding and barrel vault, standing seam roofs. Oxford Architects’ response to the barrel vault concept was a folded curve, standing seam aluminium roof creating both physical and metaphorical protection against the prevailing south westerly winds.
